Where It All Began: Belgian Waffles at Historic Findlay Market
It all started here. In 2007, our founder Jean-François Flechet returned from Belgium with a 120-pound cast iron waffle maker and a mission: to bring authentic Liège waffles to Cincinnati. He began baking in the back of a produce shop inside Findlay Market, and soon the space was packed with waffle fans lining up for a taste. That humble beginning sparked a culinary movement, and Taste of Belgium was born.
Today, you can still find us in our original market stand, serving fresh, made-from-scratch waffles, baked goods, and sandwiches on our house-made ciabatta, just steps from some of the city’s best local vendors and artisans. Whether you’re exploring Findlay Market on a Saturday morning, grabbing a quick bite while shopping, or introducing a friend to Cincinnati’s most iconic waffle, our stand is the perfect place to start or end your market visit.
